* Ironman: +25% Armor, can use golden items for free **American:** Heroes get one random ability from the list below: I'm also cleaning up wording and typos I spot in the ability descriptions instead of directly transcribing them. Every ability is tied to the unique building for a faction, but in order to keep things simple I'm just going to use the default name for things. With the Romans out of the way, I'm going to hit the new upgrades for the other factions from top to bottom. You can't use it to skip building Forests or Quarries (not that I've ever seen a build that wants to skip either of those anyways) and it's not going to save you more than a few seconds worth of production even very early in the game.Īll in all, I'd probably stick to grabbing the first point if you invest in the Romans at all, and that primarily if you're like me and find yourself often impatiently wishing you could crunch through early game steps just that little bit faster. Even with the free Aqueduct you get with each reset, it just won't give you enough resources to hit any important breakpoints. The third bonus seems like a complete waste.

Plus farms just aren't that expensive or time consuming to build once you've got all the relics (and especially if you've pushed the Wheat & Wood relics to level 2 or higher). Although a free farm (with 10 farmers thanks to the first upgrade) is pretty nice for your first few resets, I often stop building farms after I get through the first four or five resets on a new continent. The second bonus, on the other hand, seems a lot weaker (Although it's *much* better now that I finally realized that it gives you a free farm and not, as I initially parsed it, a free field). Plus, in builds like Chromelchis where you're skipping Farms being able to immediately set up Quarries with 10 masons each and Temples with 10 monks each can save you a good amount of setup time. Starting Farms at 10 Farmers is pretty great and will save you several minutes in builds early in a run on a new continent. Whenever you build an Aqueduct, you get +1000 Wheat, +1000 Wood, +1000 Stone, and +1000 Faith. Aqueduct works as a farm, but the first Aqueduct is built for free.ģ. Since the Romans are new, let's go ahead and talk about all of their upgrades before moving on to the third tier upgrades for the other factions.

So with that out of the way, let's talk about Empire Bonuses! My goal is to focus on specifically the new third tier upgrades, but I'm likely going to be touching on the lower level upgrades as well since for some of them you're functionally spending 5 points instead of 3 since you're having to buy a level 2 upgrade you might otherwise ignore. I started playing about a week or two prior to Empire Points being added, and I don't claim to be an ultimate authority on any of this. First off, a disclaimer: I'm fairly far into the game (I currently have 7 Empire points, I'm on my third continent, and overall I'd say I have a pretty good grasp on everything going on in the game), but I'm not ultra-endgame.
